Chinese Social Media

Connect with China through WeChat

With more than 950 million active users (70% of the Chinese population), WeChat has been the most popular app and social media since it's release in 2011 by the Chinese internet giant Tencent (HKG:0700). Together with QQ and Qzone, Tencent owns the top three Chinese social media platforms and is the fourth largest internet company in the world after Google, Facebook and Amazon.

More than 50% of WeChat users spend at least 90 minutes a day on WeChat and a typical user sends out more than 70 messages on WeChat each day.

Social Media Account Establishment & Posts

Tencent requires a rigorous setup process which is not for the faint-hearted! Alexanders will advise you on all the necessary documents for registration and recommend structure/pages for your account. Ecommerce options available.

Based on your brief, we will then create a unique client account for your business and translate your content if required. We can also help create a content calendar around Chinese events and festivals, as well as assist you with translation and correspondence until you find your feet.

Chinese web design & hosting

Rather than translate your existing .co.nz site, we recommend building a Chinese web site that is hosted in Hong Kong, to make it downloadable in China (NZ sites are slow and not generally indexed by Baidu).

Chinese PR

We can facilitate dispatch of your news to China-based media and demonstrate uptake within a week. We can also help to shape and translate your content.

Chinese Digital Advertising

 Chinese Media Print & Mags

Advertise on WeChat, QZone, QQ, WeChat moments

Reaching Chinese in China: Just like Google and Facebook, Tencent (the fourth largest internet company in the world after Google, Facebook and Amazon) also offers advertising services for brands and businesses to reach potential customers. WeChat is the most well known TenCent platform in the west, but exploring the market and finding the right niche is crucial for any digital campaign... Learn about Tencent's major Chinese media platforms

Reaching Chinese in NZ: There is a big domestic market for Chinese domestic travellers from Auckland (over 171,000 in Akld excluding international students). Plus there is a website that reaches 80% of all domestic Chinese in NZ.

Advertise in local Chinese media including newspapers, television and radio as well as real estate magazine

Reach local Chinese through local Chinese radio, televeision and publications (Chinese Herald reaches circulation of 10,000 in Auckland, published four times week - and the Christchurch equivalent reaches 7,000 in Christchurch).

We can help you reach tourists and locals for real estate through an upmarket Chinese local magazine and Chinese print flyers via AA and iSite centres.

Alipay Discovery Vouchers

A key feature if you have set up AliPay as a payment option, is AliDiscovery which is like a geotargeted business directory for all 2,000 AliPay merchants around New Zealand.

There is a set-up fee of $350. AliPay then promotes businesses on its directory for free. For an additional $625 pa, you can load up 12 vouchers (typically used one a month). You can purchase additional vouchers for $62.50. Alipay will not advise how many people click on your business listing, but they will return data on how many vouchers get used.

The listing is translated and can provide Video content, coupons/vouchers with offers to drive digital impressions to your door, photos showcasing your offering, location & key contact information, a description of your business and offering. Businesses that offer coupons are more likely to see customers walk through their doors.

Photos provide more details of your business, showcasing sales, specials and unique product launches.

Your voucher is a template – a photo and a merchant code. Successful coupons include a discount, which gives you the opportunity to up-sell to other areas of your business and encourage repeat business.

Your ad is responsive, requiring a photo, a location and contact information, and description of your business.

Digital Billboards at Main Airports in New Zealand

By advertising on digital billboards at Auckland and Christchurch airports, you will have the opportunity to deliver detailed, copy-rich messages to your potential Chinese customers. Billboard campaigns bring your products to life and give your brand unparalleled coverage in the best locations in the country. Most viewed on departure rather than arrival.

Auckland International Airport is the busiest airport in New Zealand. It is the biggest gateway with a consistent lift in visitors from China as part of a broader boom in tourism. It reported a 92 per cent surge in Chinese arrivals in February 2018, due to the timing of Chinese New Year. On an annual basis, Chinese arrivals with holiday purposes rose 9.2 per cent in the year to February 2018, at 28,000.

Christchurch Airport is the gateway to the South Island and New Zealand’s 2nd busiest airport. With 6.7 million passengers per year and the fastest growing Chinese destination in New Zealand, Christchurch Airport captures a large and diverse audience group.
