3 ways creative brochure design can open doors

An artful and modern presentation sends a clear message about your business and reinforces your point of difference.

Brochures can open doors when you can’t be there, including at unmanned displays, within conference packs, and yes - even to elusive individuals by snail mail.

For your sales team, the humble brochure or creative company profile design remains a useful communication tool to demonstrate credibility and present detail on your product or service.

A4 BROCHURE DESIGN

What’s the most popular brochure size?

A4 brochure design and envelope-sized “DLE” brochures are the most popular brochure sizes in New Zealand. A DLE brochure is an A4 page folded into three, that then fits snugly into an envelope (typically 99mm x 210 mm folded with three panels). It's super efficient from a print layout point of view and therefore cost-effective.

DLE brochures can fold in different ways: roll fold being most common; gate fold which is good with four panels - you get a stylish inside spread; and z-fold.

Popular variations of A4 brochure design are A4 single product sheets (e.g. house plans, or product info for a folder), and A3 folded to A4 for company hand outs.

Advice on formats & sizes

Discover practical and novel formats from our treasure chest, with inspiring die-cut shapes and twists on traditional brochure designs that won’t break the budget.

Brochure design & printing

We can facilitate printing with our trusted suppliers if you don’t have a preferred supplier arrangement. There are plenty of recycled or sustainable paper options, and there are even sustainable ink alternatives.

Writing

Words create worlds. Design brings those words to life. It can be hard to put abstract ideas and concepts into words. Our gifted writer will attract attention, hold it, and manoeuvre the reader artfully through to action, using our proven copywriting formula.

Graphic design

A common challenge is finding a brochure designer that can capture the right concept that reflects your company’s personality. Fresh concepts with groovy fonts may be wasted if the product benefits are not highlighted. An incoherent hierarchy can tread on toes. Poor headlines may be unconvincing. Alexanders’ expert brochure design services involve a gifted (and reliable!) graphic designer whose work is curated by our art director, working alongside insightful copywriters and savvy account managers.

Brochure design process

6 easy steps to professional brochure design

1

Planning

Avoid design overwhelm in deciding what goes where
What should a service brochure include? A plan is developed, clearly outlining the key messages on each page, and the main out-take based on customer insights. This gives shape to the flow, hierarchy of content, sections, and offer or a ‘call to action’. The writer and designer are inspired by a motivating brief.
2

Goals

Save design time. Get us to do the creative heavy lifting
The graphic designer looks for creative inspiration, imagery, and a ‘look’ (if you do not have images or a guide we need to follow). Alternative fonts, colour combinations to support your logo, images, and creative treatments to suit your audience are considered. For annual reports, company profiles, and catalogues, we design a cover, contents, and spread as design templates, to create a grid for the following pages.
3

Text & layout

Words create Worlds. Design brings worlds to life.
The copywriter crafts the messages into headlines and engaging text, or we can liaise with your content team for word count and content requirements.
4

Art direction

Hierarchy & flow are vetted
After these three steps, our Art Director plays an important role, casting her eye over the draft to ensure the design has flow, the text is compelling, the hierarchy leads the reader to a logical action point, and the colours and image selection have synergy. This is quality assurance. Tweaks are made to refine the design and text until the art director and account manager are satisfied that the design has chutzpa and meets the brief.
5

Client feedback

Finesse the draft to your satisfaction
6

Export + Print

Print management
The brochure is formatted into digital or print-ready versions. We have a range of trusted printers for specialist projects.
Brochure design pricing

How much does it cost to make a brochure page?

The pricing of brochure design services depends on the purpose the brochure is going to serve and the value it provides. Do you need a quickly rolled-out report using a trusted template we have designed, a custom and considered professional quality brochure for investors or presentations, or simply an update of content to an existing design?

Yes!  Often. Take a look at our web design services

Frustrated with your freelancer?

Do you wonder why so much design looks the same nowadays? Cosmetically clean and tidy, yet lacking in a sense of character or personality?
Most designs are done by amateurs adapting templates. It can be a very economical solution, and yes, we can do this too – as certain projects simply don’t warrant creative prowess and the time and effort involved.
If you’ve outgrown your freelancer, or are tired of average brochure designs services online, you may be ready for a refreshing change; our friendly account managers, with their organised and dynamic personalities, bridge the gap between design and delivery, keeping your project flowing as your in-agency brand guardians.
Great design is often based on a simple proposition, but simple doesn't mean easy. It involves lots of thinking, research, and professional judgment behind it to distil the core idea.

Brainpower is the cost.
Elegance is the solution.

How we create our signature polished, upmarket look, with a clear message, is no accident. Alexanders’ art director takes time to nurture the aesthetic brilliance of our designers, while sensitively guiding impracticalities.
Our Art Director has an innate sense of style, combining typography, colour, and form with a deep knowledge of customer engagement.
We have Account Managers who act as the middleman with whom you can communicate and convey your message without offending the designer.
Whereas an independent graphic designer is trained in one field – graphic design –
they may have only had one year or less of training. At Alexanders, our in-house designer has been immersed in design his whole life, and he is still passionate about it. Born and raised in NZ, he is friendly and down-to-earth. Our long-established relationship between the designer and Art Director guarantees consistently high-quality artwork. We believe the whole is greater than the sum of parts.
At Alexanders, you get wisdom from a team, not an individual.

Don’t get overlooked:
Get memorable collateral
